Cruise Tips:Things to Know Before Sailing MSC Meraviglia

Planning a cruise on MSC Meraviglia? Whether you're a first-timer or just new to the MSC experience, this guide is packed with helpful tips to make your sailing smooth, stylish, and stress-free.

I've cruised before, but sailing on MSC Meraviglia was a new adventure for me. From the moment I stepped on board, I was surrounded by elegance: Swarovski crystal staircases, beautifully designed lounges, and a ship that truly screams luxe. I learned a few helpful things and now I'm sharing them with you.

Boarding from Brooklyn = A Win

MSC Meraviglia sails out of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, which is perfect if you're local to the East Coast. No flights, no hassle. The price was right, the port was close, and I was sold.

Carry-On Must-Haves

Before you even step foot on the ship, make sure your carry-on includes these essentials:

•   Passport & travel documents

•   Medications

•   Valuables

•   Swimsuit & comfy shoes

Why? Your checked luggage may take hours to reach your cabin. With your swimsuit in hand, you can head straight to the buffet or pool and start the vacay early.

Hotel Service Charges & Bar Gratuities Are Not The Same

MSC automatically adds a daily hotel service charge to your onboard account. Bar service and drink packages come with built-in gratuities. While you can tip extra, it's not required. Hotel Service Charges & Bar Gratuities may sound similar, but they’re not. I break it down in the video below.

Book Specialty Dining & Spa Services in Advance

Trust me don’t wait until you’re on board. I booked a hot stone massage, ordered a chocolate-covered strawberries & champagne package before sailing, and l'm so glad I did. Spa appointments in particular fill up fast, especially on sea days. Booking in advance can also help you save money.
